Wow! I am so behind on my blogging! Spring really got me running behind between coaching the Corner Girls Tennis Team and having and the woes of all day morning sickness!
So, here is a quick post to catch you up on some, but not all of the things we have been doing in the past couple of months.
February:
Dental Health with Peanut Butter, Apple Slices, and Marshmallows
March:
Sneaky Leprachuans.... Turned our room into a mess and Mrs. Langston's Carnations Green! They also left us some lucky Toootsie-Pops in a basket (That Mrs. Langston forgot to take a picture of...)
Updated the Igloo:
We decorated the igloo and turned it around in the corner. The students have been reading like CRAZY in this little igloo! They are going to be sad to see it go. I think I will be as well...even though I have some supplies behind those green curtains I would like to get to. I think I will have to take the igloo down this summer because some of those milk jugs look like they might expand and stink with the heat of the Summer invading the classroom with no air conditioning (once school lets out)!
April:
The Birmingham Zoo and a Which-Wich Lunch
Have no fear... we aren't talking "witches" here. Which-Wich is a sanwich shop in Homewood. I stumbled upon a wonderful educational opportunity while eating at this shop one day. You have to read and fill out a bag telling the servers what you want on your sandwich. They take your bag, make your sandwich, and return the bag to you with your sandwich in it!
So, having a 3.5 year old of my own with me that day- I discovered the children's version and knew from that moment on that this would be a GREAT real-word reading and writing lesson. I got in touch with the owner and he was the most helpful person! He allowed us to fill out our bags, bring them in, and pick the sandwiches up on the day of our Field trip to the Birmingham Zoo! He even gave us a discount and provided a sandwich for the teachers!
***The picture below will be featured in his store and possibly in the company publication! I have permission from the parents of the students to share this picture. You know I am very protective of these little faces!
I will be sure to update the blog with an end of the year post! Until then... have a GREAT week!
